The purpose of this program is to provide the opportunity for employment in an integrated setting to individuals who might otherwise be able to retain work due to a handicapping condition. On-site training, and support services are offered in order to obtain and retain employment in the community. The overall goal is to help each worker attain their highest level of vocational independence.

A site manager and a case manager work together coordinating a program best suited to the needs of each consumer. The site supervisor provides training and supervision daily. Each consumer's performance is monitored closely and the information is provided to the case manager on a regular basis. The ongoing support of a job coach helps the consumer to learn and keep their job. The major purpose of this job coach is to provide individualized training.

Supportive Employment jobs are outside of Pathways' and may be in local businesses or traveling work crews. Mainers with severe disabilities are working in jobs we never dreamed they could do. This program gives a tremendous opportunity for consumers, businesses and the community.
